Mr. Geschke
Charles “Chuck” Geschke of Los Altos, one of the most prominent and respected figures in Silicon Valley as co-founder of Adobe Systems, died after an ongoing illness. His death was announced Friday morning.
The tech entrepreneur, 81, was also known in philanthropic circles for his unrelenting generosity. He and his wife, Nan, donated millions to nonprofit organizations and universities to further the cause of education. The Geschkes also have been longtime supporters of the Los Altos History Museum. Mr. Geschke’s impact is vast. His launch of Adobe Systems with co-founder and fellow Los Altos resident John Warnock introduced the world to the endless possibilities of desktop publishing. The company’s products – Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop and others – are household names and used the world over. The company’s mammoth success places Adobe Systems among Silicon Valley’s greatest companies.
