No 16 Seminoles Open Spring Season In Hawai i

TALLAHASSEE – The 16th-ranked Florida State men’s tennis team opens the dual-match portion of its schedule with two matches in Hawai’i this weekend. FSU plays its first spring match Friday at Hawai’i and compete against Cal on Sunday, also in Honolulu. The Seminoles, who boast three of the nation’s top-53 singles players, return seven contributors from last year’s team that advanced to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009. Florida State is led by junior Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc, who is the No. 12 singles player in the nation. He finished his fall schedule with a 13-3 overall record after advancing to the semifinal round of the ITA Fall Championships in San Diego. The Lyon, France, native defeated six ranked opponents in the fall, including two top-10 wins, and all three of his losses were to the eventual champion in each tournament. Pourroy Named to All-ACC Academic Team

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State’s Loris Pourroy was named to the 2022 Men’s Tennis All-ACC Academic Team, announced Thursday. The sophomore sport management major from Gap, France, earned his first selection to the All-ACC Academic Team. To earn All-ACC Academic honors, players must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater and a minimum 3.0 GPA for the most recent semester. Pourroy has one of the highest GPAs on the team and was named to the Dean’s List for the Fall 2021 semester. Earlier this season, Pourroy earned All-ACC First Team honors and was named ACC Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks. Pourroy played singles on court one for the Seminoles and tied for the team lead in singles wins this spring. He closed out the season by participating in the NCAA Singles Championships and was ranked 51st in the final national singles rankings of the season. Loris Pourroy Falls in Three Sets at NCAA Singles Championships

CHAMPAIGN, Illinois –Loris Pourroy, the nation’s No. 51-ranked singles player, competed in the NCAA Men’s Tennis Singles Championship on Monday at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in Champaign, Illinois. He dropped a 2-6, 6-4, 5-7 decision in three sets to No. 11 Hamish Stewart from the University of Georgia. “Loris played a guy that he's played a couple times and battled hard today,” head coach Dwayne Hultquist said. “It's a tough loss, but Loris has had a great year and has a lot to be proud of playing court one on the team, making the NCAA Tournament and lots of accolades and more to come.” It was a rematch of the second round of the team NCAA Tournament when Pourroy and Stewart competed on court one for their respective schools. Pourroy dropped the first set Monday but battled back to win the second. He and Stewart were on-serve for the first nine games, placing Pourroy in the lead 5-4. He earned a break to claim the second set and force a deciding third set.
