Yossi Gestetner, co-founder of the Orthodox Jewish Public Affairs Council, which works in New York and New Jersey, referenced that attack in comments on Cuomo s effort to protect Jewish communities.
“The upside of the Governor’s announcement is that it shows he is on top of this issue and he is lending practical support, Gestetner said in an email. The downside is that last time around after the Hanukkah stabbing at the end of 2019 State Police handed out tickets to locals and left the neighborhood very quickly. Hopefully this time the deployment holds longer than the headlines and is focused on security; not tickets.
