City of Carlsbad update: Dr. Mark Buckholz to retire from NMU Carlsbad Dale Janway Dr. Mark Buckholz, the Interim Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at our local college, has announced his retirement, effective July 1. Dr. Buckholz has served here for more than 25 years and was a very well liked and respected professor throughout his tenure. His strong support voiced during the legislative session was one of the deciding factors in our college successfully achieving independence and becoming Southeast New Mexico College. Dr. Buckholz has promised to continue to assist with a healthy transition process and we hope he will stay involved in Carlsbad. Dr. Monty Harris has now been approved as the Interim Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs for Carlsbad’s college.
