When Robert DeCosta II thinks of his dad, he often thinks of that picture of him in the Yankees jacket and Rotary Club hat, leaning against a fence at a youth baseball game, his fingers laced in front of him, his eyes hidden by aviator sunglasses.
It was one of thousands of games the elder Robert DeCosta coached in his life, with some of the thousands of kids he coached in the background. That one picture says a lot about DeCosta: His love of the Yankees, first and foremost, but also his reserve and dignity, his unassuming smile, his dedication to Cranston.
