Missouri ERAP application for rental and utility assistance closes Monday KMIZ COLUMBIA, MO (KMIZ) The Missouri State Assistance for Housing Relief is now accepting applications for rental and utility assistance for those who have been financially impacted by the pandemic. The Missouri Emergency Rental Arrears Program (ERAP) provides financial support to both landlords and renters who have been effected by the pandemic. Residents and landlords can apply online by Monday April 5. The program will reimburse landlords for past due rent payments (rental arrears) for the period beginning April 1, 2020. Applications must be completed and submitted by landlords in collaboration with their tenants. A one-time payment of up to six (6) months of rental arrears will be made to the landlord on the tenant’s behalf, as stated on the department s website.

Salvation Army almost at capacity in Columbia and Jefferson City COLUMBIA, MO (KMIZ) Salvation Army shelter locations in Columbia and Jefferson City are becoming near capacity with bitterly cold temperatures. Lori Benson, Regional Director of Community Relations of the Midland Salvation Army, said there s been a significant increase in guests at the shelter since the low temperatures began. Benson said the shelters in both Columbia and Jefferson City are both near capacity, but her major concern is the Jefferson City location. She says the Salvation Army is the only overnight warming center offered in Jefferson City. I know that Jefferson City has a few day shelters warming centers that individuals can go to stay warm, but at night the Salvation Army is the only overnight shelter in the Jefferson City area so when we get full it really does create problems and our shelter staff is calling around and trying to see can we put these individuals someplace to get them off the str
