A MUSSELBURGH great-grandmother celebrated her 100th birthday on Easter Sunday with a special gift from children at Longniddry Primary School. Keen to ensure that Rose Pye had a good time amidst Covid-19 restrictions, the children, who are in her great-granddaughter’s P6 class, wanted to share their creative talents with her by drawing pictures of a rose and writing birthday messages for her. Their ‘surprise’ gesture was the icing on the cake for Rose, a resident at St Anne’s Care Home in Musselburgh, who was delighted to receive the keepsake from the pupils. She was born in Glasgow on April 4, 1921, one of four sisters and four brothers.
