Lawrence County Women s Conference planned for Aug 21

From Staff Reports NEW CASTLE The 14th annual Lawrence County Women’s Conference will be held on Aug. 21 at The Villa Banquet Hall, 2500 New Butler Road. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Registration and shopping will start at 8 a.m. The Lawrence County’s Women’s Conference was started by Georgia Berner, former CEO of Berner International, to enlighten women on important issues such as politics, business, and self-preservation. United Way has continued to spearhead this event with the help of local women in leadership. The keynote speaker for the event is Maggie Feinstein, director of the 10:27 Healing Partnership in Pittsburgh. Feinstein is a master’s level therapist who has distinguished herself in the field of integrated mental health, or working within the medical community to provide brief interventions within the context of medical visits since 2009. She primarily worked in communities with high levels of trauma and poor access to mental health suppor

Contract amended to finish Lawrence County Courthouse exterior project

Ellwood City Ledger NEW CASTLE  Commissioners have amended the contract with Arnold Blashak to have him finish exterior and painting work for the Lawrence County Courthouse. Commissioner Loretta Spielvogel said the contract for the project was approved in July 2018 by the previous board of commissioners and was to be completed in two years. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, that work had to be delayed. Under the amended agreement, the county will pay $59,356.53 to have Arnold Blashak complete all remaining work by Oct. 31. The remaining work includes: power washing and painting the exterior courthouse; repair, sand, scrape, seal, and caulk the wood trim along the roof; recaulk the window sills; replace old downspouts; apply water repellent to bases, pillars, and capitals on the front porch of the courthouse; scrape, seal, and paint the foundation stone around the courthouse; clean metal grates over the basement windows; seal and paint all brickwork in the basement wind
