Syracuse head coach Ian McIntyre brought in 14 transfers ahead of the 2023 season. While the Orange were knocked out in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, McIntyre showed that the program is capable of sustained success.
Ian McIntyre said Syracuse “huffed and puffed” throughout its 3-0 season-ending loss to New Hampshire in the NCAA Tournament, failing to generate a successful attack.
“They really did a good job of picking up their second balls and I thought physically, they won those battles.” Despite the return of Jeorgio Kocesvki, Syracuse failed to win the midfield battle in a 3-0 loss to New Hampshire.
“We’ve shown this year that resilience to go down and have the ability to kind of bounce back.” Syracuse conceded a goal in the third minute and responded with three first-half goals, besting Boston University 3-1 to open the NCAA tournament.
“He played some of his best soccer for us tonight.” Syracuse midfielder Jeorgio Kocevski was suspended for Thursday's NCAA Tournament game against BU, but Mateo Leveque filled his void, notching two assists en route to a 3-1 victory.
