How Did Darius Stills Go Undrafted?
A little insight as to why the former Mountaineer may have been passed on.

It never seemed like a matter of if former West Virginia defensive lineman Darius Stills would get drafted but more of when he would get drafted. Most mock drafts had him as a day three pick ranging anywhere from the 4th-7th round of the draft. As the picks continued to be announced late into day three, you could see it coming that all 32 teams were going to pass up on him.
When you look at the players that were being drafted, it was not making sense that a Consensus All-American was being picked over by long snappers, kickers, and defensive tackles that accomplished nothing near the achievements that Stills did. Was it a matter of size? Speed? Strength? Fit? Or the fact that teams didn t get to see him compete at the Reese s Senior Bowl for the final stamp of approval?

Former Syracuse defensive back Ifeatu Melifonwu was selected 101st overall in the third round of the 2021 NFL draft by the Detroit Lions on Friday night. It is the second straight year two former Orange players have been drafted. Alton Robinson and Sterling Hofrichter were taken in the fifth and seventh rounds, respectively, in the 2020 draft.
Melifonwu is the second SU player drafted in 2021. Fellow DB Andre Cisco went 65th overall in the third round to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Trill Williams is projected to be selected sometime on the third day of the draft, scheduled for Saturday.

Rick Spielman and company traded back from 14 to 23, picking up two more third-round picks in the process (Nos. 66 and 86), and landed a left tackle that probably should ve gone much earlier. Virginia Tech s Christian Darrisaw, who will slide into Riley Reiff s vacated LT spot from day one, possesses a remarkable combination of athleticism, size, and
much-needed pass protection ability. If he pans out, the Vikings will have their bookend tackles set for years with Darrisaw and Brian O Neill.
But don t take my word for it. Let s go around the internet and look at the draft grades the Vikings received for this pick from various national writers and analysts.

The overwhelming attention paid to the quarterback position by Bears followers and even the Bears personnel staf during this run up to the 2021 NFL Draft has focused attention on possible trades.
Moving up to acquire one of the top quarterbacks seems a possibility, but with so many holes to fill it seems far more likely they ll stand in their slot or even move down to get an extra pick.
After all, they don t have a safety starter, a legitimate slot cornerback starter and their starter at left cornerback is a 30-year-old new player to the system who has been plagued by injuries for three of the last four years. Those are needs.
