The initiative comes as many businesses in Bay County have struggled to find enough workers since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
An orientation was held in Rutherford High School s auditorium on Tuesday morning. One employer was looking forward to hiring at least two students from the Bay Youth Summer Work Foundation at Planet Fitness. It would be wonderful, considering we are stretched between doing the customer service end of it and always keeping it (gym) clean, said Lora Hasten, who works for Planet Fitness but is also a director for the Bay Youth Summer Work Foundation. Having extra students to have hands-on, greet the customers and showing that hospitality that Florida is good with.
