A Kenyan lion believed to be the world's oldest died after being speared by herdsmen. According to the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), ten lions have been slain in southern Kenya in the past week, including six on Saturday alone, as human-wildlife conflict escalates in the region.

Loonkito, possibly one of the oldest lions in Africa and the world, has been killed in Kenya at the age of 19, conservation organisation Lion Guardians said.
