(WIS) - The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the report of a shooting on Longtown Road in Columbia. Deputies say they responded to a local hospital to a call of a man being shot. According to officials, the shooting reportedly occurred on Wednesday, May 12 around 9:50 p.m.. Officials say a man reported that he was near Longtown Road when another vehicle approached his and shots were fired. The man was struck by the gunfire in the upper body. Officials say the man then drove himself to the hospital where he reported the incident.

Trial: The defendants are to go on trial in September THREE people from north Cumbria have appeared before a Carlisle Crown Court judge to face an allegation of aggravated burglary involving a claw hammer. In the dock for a brief hearing were Diane Sylvia Jardine, 33, of Graham Street, Longtown; Daniel Frank Little, 29, of Fell View, Kirklinton; and Peter William Devers, 18, of Woodlands View, Longtown. All three entered not guilty pleas to the allegation that they jointly face. The court heard that the allegation is that on September 13 last year, at Longtown Road, Brampton, the trio entered a dwelling as trespassers and attempted to inflict grievous bodily harm on a man.

Warwick, of Muirtonhill Road, Cardenden, made no plea when he appeared on petition at Dundee Sheriff Court.

Meet Clifford the lamb - the first born at Brampton school s smallholding this year

SPRING has sprung at a Brampton school after the first lamb of the year was born at its smallholding. Christened Clifford, it came into the world on March 31 at William Howard School s three quarter of an acre plot - it s hoped it will be the first of many. For nearly three years now students at the school, on Longtown Road, have been tending to a flock of sheep. They also look after hens, ducks and grow there own food. The venture is aimed at teaching youngsters about living environmentally and sustainably to grow fruits, vegetables and plants - it is looked after by the pupils and a team of about 20 volunteers.
