Jarrad Colwell and his family built a modern hog barn during the summer and it’s just about ready for its first tenants.
It was a long summer getting the barn at 3126 Colwell Road, northeast of Franklin, to the point of opening, Colwell said.
Colwell, a fourth-generation farmer, hauled hogs for a long time while working for The Maschhoffs, a family-owned farming company with more than 200,000 sows spread out over nine states. Colwell always wanted some pigs of his own, he said.
