Work along floridas gulf coast have spent the past several days getting ready. Two to three days weve been preparing even until midnight last night and the best thing to do is prepare no matter when its going to be bad or not you have to be ready. Georges island but its a matter of communicating with the community and making sure everyone knows whats going on. Diane if it strengthens to a hurricane it will be the first to make landfall in florida since 2005, more than a decade ago. I keep saying our time will run out and looks like it has. Close. Why and where theyre going now. Since the explosion at the Flower Branch apartments in Silver Spring residents have been staying at the Long Branch Community center but not anymore. Its time to move onto a more permanent solution. Working with Montgomery County leaders and the red cross people are now in either a new home or staying in a hotel. Some are opting to stay with friends. The biggest challenge is many arent getting any Financial Assistance from the the Apartment Management Company because 29 families did not have an official lease. Some residents also tell us theyre hesitant to live in another apartment managed by cay because they dont feel safe. The explosion started with a gas leak. Volunteers are priority to work with residents to get them into a safe place to live. Today residents are meet at the Long Branch Community center for a financial meeting from 4 00 to 6 00 and tomorrow from 4 00 to 6 00 and later this week on thursday there will be a meeting offered with
