Two U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18 combat jets will arrive at Long Beach Airport Friday, officials announced Thursday. After planned operations, the aircraft are expected to depart Monday morning.
All times are tentative and subject to change without notice, according to the announcement.
The city noted the jets are “noticeably louder” than other craft that utilize the airport but are exempt from the municipal airport’s noise regulations. The aircraft are expected to modify arrival and departure flight profiles and minimize use of afterburners to abate noise as much as possible.
