The days of popping in to council offices could be over. That is according to Maryport Mayor Peter Kendall, who said Allerdale council proposals to alter the Maryport town hall will leave people having to stand on the street or make an appointment to report a broken street light or culvert. Allerdale submitted the proposal for comment at a town council meeting night. The changes, officers said, were primarily to ensure staff safety. It s also understood that the police and Credit Union would both look at using office space in the building. But town councillors are concerned that, as the prime users of the building, their needs are being overlooked.
