Family Identifies Riviera Beach Man Who Died In Fireworks Incident

By Joel Malkin Photo: CBS 12 The family of a man who died after a fireworks accident has identified him as 55-year old Charles Morris. The retired construction worker was found lying in the street after 8:30 on Sunday night. Another man was injured in the incident, which has not been fully explained by police. Neighbors in the Lone Pine Estates neighborhood of Riviera Beach heard loud booms just before Morris was found dead. Firecrackers that had not been used and various types of fireworks debris were found in the street hours after the incident. Police say the man who survived is hospitalized in critical condition.

One man dead, one in critical condition after Riviera fireworks incident

First responders were called to the 2500 block of Canterbury South, in the Lone Pine Estates neighborhood just north of 45th Street and west of Military Trail, to an incident involving fireworks. When they arrived, one man was severely injured and taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment. Police said the other man died from his injuries.  At this time, police have not identified either man or provided further details about what led to their injuries. As of Monday afternoon, investigators said the second man remains in critical condition.  The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s bomb squad and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are assisting with the investigation.
