Why 14,000 people are interested in these 200 new San Diego homes

Print The first homes at San Diego’s newest residential community haven’t even been built yet but the interest list is growing by the minute. 3Roots in Mira Mesa plans to build 1,800 homes by 2025 to 2026. Just 200 homes are anticipated to open this year, but the interest list is at more than 14,000 people and expected to keep growing before pre-sales start in June. The developers have a gold-plated problem who gets to buy? At the moment, they say they are still trying to figure that out. Fallbrook & Rainbow Water Districts seek to leave San Diego County Water Authority -

FALLBROOK (KUSI) – Fed up with rising water costs, two North County water districts, filled with financially strapped farmers and everyday ratepayers, want to leave the San Diego County Water Authority. Instead of continuing to purchase their water from the San Diego County Water Authority (SDCWA) – which has raised water costs on the districts by an average of 8% each year over the past decade – the districts have submitted an application with the San Diego Local Agency Formation Commission to become wholesale water customers of the Eastern Municipal Water District. If approved, the districts would be able to purchase their water for millions of dollars less each year compared to what they are paying today to SDCWA.

San Diego County home prices are forecast to rise 8 3% this year, most in the nation

Print The price of a San Diego County home could increase by more than 8 percent this year, more than anywhere else in the nation, according to a forecast released Jan. 5. Real estate analyst CoreLogic said the price of a single-family home in the county will increase 8.3 percent from November 2020 to November 2021. That means the median price of house could be around $776,000 by the end of the year. CoreLogic said the main reason is a lack of homes for sale that will push up prices as buyers fight it out. A secondary factor is income growth for highly skilled positions in San Diego County.
