Councilman Victor Vega asked the city attorney if there are organizations that currently exist for the express purpose of supporting public safety, arts, and parks. The attorney replied that are existing nonprofits the city could partner with. Vega then correctly asked why the council should consider adding another nonprofit to the mix.
Councilman Dirk Starbuck agreed with Vega and said: “Last meeting, no grant writer. Now, we need a grant writer to write grants. It appears no matter what we do, we’re going to end up with a huge amount of staff, and look like we’re doing growth of government for something we have nothing in the pipeline for.”

The pump will be installed into a new crew cab utility truck that is expected to replace the department s 2008 Ford, which has been used as a rescue response unit.
Over the past decade, the Lompoc Firefighters Foundation has played a significant role in enhancing and adding to the Fire Department s capabilities through its fundraising and donation efforts. Over time, the foundation has purchased a significant amount of equipment, such as AEDs, extrication tools, wildland equipment, health and safety improvements, as well as a public education trailer.
The Lompoc Fire Department is grateful to the foundation and its members for their continued support of the department and the community.
