A trial date has been slated for former Lometa Police Chief Melissa Cantu in a case where she has been charged with wiretapping. Cantu will appear in court March 25 to face a jury trial a course her attorney, Ben Michael of Michael & Associates of Austin, said is desired.
Lometa Police Chief Melissa Cantu has been indicted on a felony charge following a Texas Rangers investigation. Cantu, 39, turned herself in to the Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday evening, sheriff’s office authorities said, after she was indicted on a charge of unlawful interception/ use/disclosure of wire, oral or electronic communications, a second-degree felony.
