Lokelani ‘Ohana has partnered with local artist Melissa Hagerty to offer a therapeutic arts class, “Heart of the Hive,” to Maui residents, including adults with developmental disabilities, from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays at the Lokelani ‘Ohana Farm in Waihee.
“Heart of the Hive” teaches participants how to weave a honeycomb hexagon-shaped “cell” of a beehive in the indigenous Huichol weaving style known as the “ojo de Dios” (the eye of God).
