Lois Mitchell had a phone appointment scheduled for 11:30 am Alberta time Monday, and she was certain that Greg Abel would pick up after a ring or two, no matter how busy he was.
Abel, Berkshire Hathaway Inc.’s vice-chair of non-insurance businesses, is busy at the best of times, but his pile of responsibilities likely grew by a few heaps over the weekend after word got out that his boss, the Oracle of Omaha, Warren Buffett, had chosen the Albertan to be his successor. At least, that is, whenever the seemingly ageless 90-year-old chief executive of the US$900-billion investment conglomerate he founded steps down.

Apr 13, 2021 8:52 AM
The CFL Hall of Fame will induct five players, a head coach with an impressive resume on both sides of the border and a former commissioner in 2021.
The players are receiver Nik Lewis, defensive backs Orlando Steinauer and Don Wilson and defensive linemen Will Johnson and Mike Walker.
Lewis played 14 seasons in the CFL with the Calgary Stampeders (2004-2014) and the Montreal Alouettes (2015-2017), appearing in 226 games. Lewis began his career in Calgary, where he eclipsed the 1,000-yard receiving mark in each of his first nine years, a feat he repeated again in 2016 with Montreal. He recorded six seasons with 80 or more receptions and two seasons with 100 or more catches. Lewis became the CFL’s all-time receptions leader in 2017, with a total 1,051 receptions.

TORONTO Five legendary players from the Canadian Football League (CFL), an iconic head coach and an instrumental leader are included in the Class of 2021 unveiled today by the Canadian Football Hall of Fame (CFHOF) and Museum.
To be inducted under the Player category are defensive linemen Will Johnson and Mike Walker, wide receiver Nik Lewis and defensive backs Orlondo Steinauer and Don Wilson. In the Builder category, former Montreal Alouettes Head Coach Marv Levy and the sixth CFL Commissioner Doug Mitchell are to be inducted.
“The Canadian Football Hall of Fame is proud to honour these individuals who have contributed so much to our game, on the field, on the sidelines and in the boardroom,” said Greg Dick, Interim CFHOF Executive Director. “I would also like to thank the Selection Committee for their tireless work in selecting this year’s excellent class.”
Now you’ll have your chance. You can do more than complain. You can walk the talk.
On Monday the government of Premier Jason Kenney will start the ball rolling by pitching a new law allowing you to recall politicians you think are not doing their job.
Kaycee Madu is back.
Madu, a man unloved by certain local politicians when he was Kenney’s point man on cities, is now Alberta’s top lawman.
Part of the United Conservative platform in the last election was a pledge to bring in the recall of out-of-line politicians.
Madu says he believed in recall before that.
