SENECA — An Elk Hunter reported the shooting and killing of a wolf in self-defense in the North Malheur Hunt Unit on U.S. Forest Service property, southeast of Seneca, according to a press release from Oregon State Police. The hunter called the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife on the morning of Thursday, Nov. 2, to report the incident, officials said. An OSP Fish and Wildlife Division Sergeant, Fish and Wildlife Senior Trooper, and the District Biologist from ODFW responded to the scene and met the hunter, according to the OSP release. The hunter properly followed instructions and left the scene intact, officials said. The hunter then voluntarily led OSP and ODFW to the scene, according to officials with OSP.
