secretary of transportation. i like when he said talked overnight like this came up. day one on the job. day one on the job this should have been the thing. but, you know, this is what infuriates me. give someone a job what s on a resume. mayor of a town. how did that town look infrastructure wise? they called him pothole pete. he was unqualified for the job. then you go from and look at their budget. all the billions of dollars and then you see those famous lines we are making hard to make to improve our environmental footprint. how about do a couple things first. make sure the planes are in the air and safe and then let s get down to the environmental stuff down here. i don t want to see that line at the very beginning of your budget. brian: southwest, of course, not red jr. to the holidays. what do they do with their money they got during the sneam we know they will be called out they should be destroyed. ship locked log jams.
us make those decisions more quickly. so we re going to use the best available technology. we re going to use proven practices. we have the u.s. government s best workforce. then gng to keep the vet at the center of this thing and make sure we get it done. secretary, you mentioned automated review. for veterans listening who maybe have experienced some of log jams, are you also staffing up these offices? we are. and just in the course of the last year, anticipating this issue coming down the pike. because president biden made very clear from the day he told me to take this job, he made clear we re going to fix this issue of burn pits. so anticipating that, anticipating those moves, anticipating this new law, in the last year we have hired 2,000 additional people to review claims. that s a start. that s not enough. we re going tb adding that many additional people in the year ahead. and we re going to use new tools
to lead our campaign as well. we ve been campaigning all over the state, from democratic areas, republican areas and people have said you re going to a lot of places where there are not a lot of democrats around the state of maryland and my answer is there are a lot of marylanders and the results showed democrats and republicans and a good chunk of republicans believe collectively in the future together. governor-elect moore, controlling the governor s mansion and the general assembly. talk log jams. talk policy. what is the priority mow? what do you hope to see the hurdle leaped, right, as it relates to things that couldn t get done because of single party control in your state. well, i think we re going to move in a sense of partnership. you know, we re going to move in a sense of understand can that in this moment, this is going to be maryland s time to lead. that we are going to be a state that is going to be more competitive, but also be more equitable, and that s not a choice
