The Municipal Corporation (MC) conducted an anti-encroachment drive on the Lodhi Club road on Wednesday and confiscated around 12 carts/vends from the site. The encroachments were in the form of roadside eateries, vends, etc.
Acting on a petition filed by the Council of Engineers against alleged encroachments on green belts in the city, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) had formed a joint committee and directed it to meet within two weeks, visit the site to verify the factual position and submit its report within 15 days
Throwing norms to the winds, vendors in the industrial hub have put up firecracker vends at various markets in the city. As per the orders issued by the district administration, cracker vends can only be set up at places designated by the administration.
With only a day left for the festival of lights, neither children hunting for crackers nor heavily stocked firecracker shops are anywhere in sight unlike the previous years.
