Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray is expected to make a formal announcement in this regard on Wednesday. We have requested the chief minister to announce a complete lockdown in the state from tomorrow at 8 pm. This was the request of all ministers to CM, now it is his decision, Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope told the reporters after a cabinet meeting. Tomorrow after 8pm, the CM will announce the decision on lockdown in the state, he added.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has decided to cancel class 10 exam of the state board.
Maharashtra has been reporting over 50,000 coronavirus cases every day in the last two weeks but people are flouting the existing restrictions on movement and gatherings, the minister said.

Mumbai: A day after Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced lockdown -style restrictions beginning 8 pm on April 14 till April 30, several people assembled outside the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Mumbai’s Kurla on Wednesday to board long-distance trains.
The decision to impose restrictions was taken in a bid to break the chain of the coronavirus which has gripped Maharashtra.

After being the worst-affected COVID-19 state in the country for close to a year, the state of Maharashtra finally announced stricter restrictions across the cities of the state to curb the spread of the virus.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, in a virtual address, announced that from 8 pm onwards on April 14, Section 144 would be imposed in the state but public transport would remain open for only essential workers. Essential services will be allowed from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm in the state.

Section 144 (prohibitory orders) of the Criminal Procedure Code will be in force till the lockdown-like restrictions are in place, Thackeray said.
