If approved, the Talladh a Bheithe wind farm would see 24 wind turbines, each 125 meters tall, together with 12.8 kilometers of wide-access tracks, buildings, and infrastructure, industrialize a vast area of designated wild land between Loch Rannoch and Loch Ericht. It is strongly opposed by many groups, including the Mountaineering Council of Scotland.

In the short days of winter a curtailed round of Geal-Charn and A’ Mharconaich offers a satisfying day out and has the advantage of starting at just over 400 metres at Balsporran Cottages, just off the A9.
