Northwell Health professionals are teaching students lifesaving techniques as part of a national grassroots campaign encouraging people to get training to help a bleeding person before health care workers arrive.
Observers note that pandemic controversies such as masks and school closings are a thing of the past. But they also see a concerted strategy by some to tone down culture war issues, which didn't serve them well last year.
Kevin Zhu of Jericho HS and Sabrina Guo of Syosset HS are among five from NY and 161 nationwide named to the program, which recognizes accomplishments in academics, the arts, and career and technical education fields.
