Watford Council extending cash grants to eligible businesses hit by Covid

Businesses may be entitled to financial support. Credit: PA Watford Borough Council is to offer support for local businesses, with extensions to two of its financial assistance grants. The Home Business Support Grant and the Additional Restrictions Grant are open to businesses that have been negatively impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, but who do not meet the criteria for other means of financial support – such as the Local Restrictions Support Grant or the Restart Grant. The Home Business Support Grant is open to home-based businesses that were required to close during the most recent period of restrictions, those that supply to the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors, and who have experienced financial difficulties due to lockdown. Those eligible will receive a cash grant equivalent of £500 for the five month period between December 2020 and April 2021.

The first payments were made to more than 600 Island businesses this morning (Wednesday) and will continue to be paid to all those eligible over the coming weeks. For businesses which have previously received a government COVID-19 business support grant during 2021, the payments should be made automatically via existing details held by the council. Businesses that did not apply online for the recent Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG) funding (launched in January) will need to complete an application form which is now available on the council website.

A total of 1,769 businesses in Stoke-on-Trent, including pubs, hairdressers and non-essential shops, have been handed the Restart Grants following the easing of coronavirus restrictions.

Reminder for businesses to check if eligible for Restart Grant

EAST Riding of Yorkshire Council is reminding businesses across the county to check if they are eligible for a Restart Grant. The grant scheme supports non-essential retail, hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym businesses with a one-off grant. It is intended to help businesses that are predominantly reliant on delivering in-person services for the general public to reopen safely as set out in the roadmap. One-off grants of up to £6,000 are available for non-essential retail businesses, and up to £18,000 for hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym business premises. The Government has asked councils to obtain further information from businesses as part of the grant scheme. Therefore East Riding of Yorkshire Council has contacted all businesses who have previously been awarded a Local Restrictions Support Grant to obtain supplementary information and an application is available for other eligible businesses that are registere
