Dredging Starts At Isle Of Wight s Newport Harbour

A major program to dredge Newport Harbour is getting underway today (Thursday).
Thousands of tonnes of silt are being removed from the bed of the River Medina to increase the depth of the navigable channel.
Dredgers have returned to the harbour for the first time since the 1970s as part of the £370,000 project.
The 1988 (and 2021) Harbour Revision Order gives the Isle of Wight Council the powers to dredge.

MANISTEE, MI – A well-traveled lift bridge in Manistee will be down a lane next week as crews from the Michigan Department of Transportation complete a detailed inspection.
The work, which will require a single-lane closure and a traffic shift, with one lane open in each direction, will take place at the bridge on U.S. 31 (Cypress Street) May 3-7.
The work will also require an adjustment from boats traveling on the Manistee River. From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, the bridge will open for marine traffic with 15 minutes of advance notice on Monday and Friday, and with three hours of advance notice Tuesday through Thursday.
