Grow Local Farmers Market celebrated nine years as a staple of downtown Corpus Christi, providing fresh and locally produced foods and products to an area still considered a food desert.
On Wednesday, founder of Grow Local South Texas Aislynn Cambell kicked off the weekly event with a speech and the crowd sang Happy Birthday.
The farmers market is held every Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Art Center of Corpus Christi.
David Nuss, executive director of Grow Local South Texas, said the organization will continue to provide fresh, locally grown produce for the community. We don t have a grocery store here or even small markets so this is it for folks who work and live down here as a place for them to get fresh foods, Nuss said.
What Is It? Even with flowers starting to bloom and the temperatures warming up in many parts of the state, skiing is still a big deal in the early spring in Oregon. There is some great spring skiing between late April and Memorial Day at Mt. Hood Meadows, Mt. Bachelor, and the Timberline Lodge & Ski Area.
Why Do It? Spring skiing in Oregon offers warmer days where you can literally wear just a t-shirt on some days and plenty of sunshine. Ski conditions are also good in the spring, and the slopes tend to be less crowded than in the winter.
