McLean County business owners, property owners, and renters who suffered damage from storms that wreaked havoc on portions of the county on June 25, 26 and 27 can expect to see emergency management crews going door-to-door on Friday, July 2 and Saturday, July 3.
McLean County issued a Declaration of Local Disaster earlier this week as a result of widespread damage from the three days of storms. The purpose of the declaration, which remains in effect for 7 days total, is to assist in getting a thorough assessment of all damage that occurred during that time frame.

The Hays County Commissioners Court provided information regarding future evening and night COVID-19 vaccination sites at its April 27 meeting.
The vaccination sites aim to cater to individuals who work during regular hours of the day. The first evening site is scheduled from 5-10 p.m. on April 30 at Sinai Pentecostal Church located at 208 Laredo St.
The court also adopted proclamations declaring April 25 to May 2 as Soil & Water Stewardship Week. Soil & Water Stewardship Week encourages community members to continue to preserve natural resources like fertile soil and clean water.
During the meeting s COVID-19 updates, Emergency Services Office Director Mike Jones says Texas State and Hays County vaccinated 2,403 citizens at their April 22 joint mass vaccination site.

A mask/face covering over the nose and mouth is required for anyone visiting any city building or facility with the following exceptions: anyone younger than 2 years old, anyone with a medical condition or disability that prevents them from wearing a face mask, while a person is actively eating/drinking, any person in their office if they’re able to maintain a safe distance from other people that are outside of their household, anyone giving a speech to an audience or for broadcast purposes, anyone exempted by a city policy that applies to the facility or premises

Stephen Love, the president/CEO of the DFW Hospital Council, said that removing the mask mandate is very unfortunate. The COVID-19 virus with variants is still here and we have not achieved herd immunity, Love said. This decision will cause the community spread to increase, forcing our exhausted healthcare heroes to diagnose, treat and save the lives of newly infected patients.
