On February 28, 1889, in the final hours of the legislative session, a bill was signed founding The University of New Mexico. Now, 132 years later, it continues to be a pillar of knowledge, community, exploration, innovation and research.
Every year, the campus community gathers to honor the University’s birthday and recognize its history and all that it brings to the Land of Enchantment. This year, because of the pandemic, Lobo Day will look a little different – as have many birthday celebrations during the last year, which is why UNM is making its birthday a celebration of YOU this year.
