The Highlights: The Ben was designed to tell a story to make visitors think, turn their heads, and look twice. It was inspired by Byrd “Birdie” Spilman Dewey, a writer and an avid collector who named her 1800s Everglades estate the Ben Trovato, a space where she found inspiration, read and wrote poems, hosted authors, artists, and prominent figures. From the moment guests enter the hotel, there’s a sense of worldly hospitality. An appointed living room setting contrasts between dark and light colors, modern and classic fixtures and rustic and refined materials, while various textures bring the space to life.
