Lloydminster GPC discusses new funding model for Youth Council

Monday’s Governance and Priorities Committee session saw conversation about a proposed funding model for the Lloydminster Youth Council.
The present structure sees the Youth Council having to apply for grant funding dollars through Lloydminster Family and Community Support Services (FCFS). The proposal would see Council giving the youth organization an annual amount.
Deputy Mayor Glenn Fagnan is heading up Council over the Summer months as Mayor Gerald Aalbers is on vacation. Fagnan discussed the debate as some Councillors had concerns about the proposal.
LYC supports Kindness Wins Day with seniors pick-me-up campaign

The Lloydminster Youth Council celebrated Kindness Wins Day by bringing some joy to the City’s seniors.
Young people involved with the organization would typically take seniors out for special activities on this day, but due to ongoing restrictions around the pandemic, their team had to adapt. This year, they had an outdoor visit at all the Lloydminster’s Seniors homes. They held up signs expressing their caring and love and dropped over several baked treats for the seniors.
Chloe Roberton, one LYC member who was at Pioneer Lodge, says even though the pandemic limited what they could do, they still knew they needed to do something.
