The case in which four senior officials from the former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) are answering, is expected to continue today at Lilongwe Magistrate Court.
The four, former Cabinet Ministers Charles Mchacha and Symon Vuwa Kaunda, former secretary to the office of president and cabinet Lloyd Muhara and former principle secretary for the Ministry of Defence Bright Kumwembe were arrested last year in connection with alleged illegal acquisition of government land.
Last month, Principal resident magistrate Viva Nyimba quashed their corruption charges and softened bail conditions in case on land acquisition in Blantyre.
However, since there was no consent from the Director of Public Prosecutions, the charges which they were answering under Corrupt Practices Act fell out.

The High Court in Lilongwe has adjourned to February 5, 2021 a case involving former President Peter Mutharika and former Chief Secretary to government Lloyd Muhara.
The court last year ordered the two to personally pay the costs in case in which they were found guilty for ordering Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda and Justice of Appeal Edward Twea to proceed on leave pending retirement.
The court then set today as the day when the case will resume for the submissions from both sides on the costs to be paid by Mutharika and Muhara.
But the case failed to commence as lawyers for Muhara and Mutharika asked for more time on the case.

The Lilongwe Magistrate Court is today expected to deliver a ruling on an application by the Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) to commit to the High Court a case against Vuwa Kaunda, Charles Mchacha and Lloyd Muhara.
ACB want the be moved to the high court since it cannot be heard by a lower court but the defense have objected the application.
The case is currently in progress is being presided over by Principal Resident Magistrate Viva Nyimba.
According to Nyimba, his ruling will, among other main areas, look into the validity of the certificate issued by the Director of Public Prosecution Dr Steve Kayuni to commit the case to the High Court.

“It is against the Law to begin proceedings of a case without written consent from the Director of Public Prosecution”, said Principal Resident Magistrate Viva Nyimba when he delivered his ruling on Thursday morning.
Nyimba further determined that the State should file a new charge sheet for offense under penal code, which includes using insulting words and neglect of public office.
