A school employee was seriously wounded by an assailant wielding a crossbow in an attack Thursday at a high school in the northern German city of Bremerhaven and a suspect was detained, investigators said.

Several Northern Kentucky schools and their Family Resource and Youth Services Centers (FRYSC) benefited from a statewide allotment of $15 million in grants from the Governor s Emergency Education Relief Fund 2 (GEER II).
The grants will fund educational support services needed due to COVID-19’s impact on schools, youth and families, with a focus on early childhood education and child care, as well as family crisis and mental health counseling, a news release said. Local FRYSCs applied for a maximum allocation of $100,000.
“As an education first administration, we are going to make sure that Kentucky educators, students and families have the support they need as we move out of the COVID-19 crisis,” said Gov. Former Lloyd High School teacher pleads guilty to child pornography charges
A former substitute teacher at Lloyd High School in Erlanger is facing nearly a decade in prison after pleading guilty to child pornography charges this week.
Seydrick Walker, 29, of Crescent Springs, pleaded guilty on Monday to four counts of promoting sex performance by a minor and the unlawful use of an electronic computer system to produce child pornography, according to the Kenton County Prosecutor s Office.
Walker was employed at the Erlanger-Elsmere Independent School District from October 2018 to May 2020.
In July 2020, he was arrested on felony charges regarding the use of electronic communication to procure sex with a minor and the possession or viewing of child pornography.
