Commissioner of Police, Major General Antony Anderson, is reporting a general reduction in crime during the three weekend lockdowns that were recently implemented by the Government as part of measures to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Anderson said that during the first weekend lockdown, there was an increase in murders, but the rates steadily declined over the next two weekends.
“For the first weekend lockdown, it was no different from without a lockdown. We found that the first weekend we had over that period, a six per cent increase; 22 homicides took place,” he indicated.
