Mountain Scene By GUY WILLIAMS One of Queenstown’s finest rugby products, Michael Collins, hopes he’ll get on the pitch when his Highlanders team brings the Super Rugby circus to his hometown at the end of this month. In a scheduling reshuffle enabled by the trans-Tasman bubble, the Highlanders play the Melbourne Rebels in an afternoon match at the Queenstown Events Centre’s John Davies Oval on May 30. Although it’s the first professional game in the resort since the Highlanders beat the Western Force in 2010, Wakatipu diehards will argue it’ll be Collins’ second-most important game in the area after he helped the Wakatipu Prems lift the White Horse Cup off Arrowtown at Jack Reid Park in 2019 it’s been his only showing for the team.

High Profile Banner Business Men Commit To Forming New Committee For Clare GAA February 19, 2021 The Clare Champion understands that the names being proposed are: Ennis native Tony Garry, (former CEO of Davy Stockbrokers) Clarecastle’s Mark O’Connell (CEO of Repucon Consulting) Parteen man Conor Gilligan (CEO of Roadbridge) Ogonnelloe’s Colin Kelly (CEO of Gyrogy) Eoin Conroy of Barefield (CEO of Titan Experience) Ennis man Eoin Doohan (Managing Director of DFP Group Enda Connolly of Ennis (Managing Director of CMP Investment Partners) All seven have committed to taking on the tasks identified by the Eire Óg Inis motion which was first brought to Convention in December, and was due to be discussed clubs this Friday evening at the first meeting of 2021. That meeting was postponed and will now be held on Tuesday evening next at 6.30pm.
