Birchwood Food Pantry Project thanks community for kind donations

Liz Cotterill, Asda Community Champion, has helped donate to the Food Pantry Project THE Birchwood community has been pulling together to help support the Food Pantry Project. Since April 2020, the three churches in the area have been delivering food parcels to vulnerable members of the community during the coronavirus pandemic. Residents do not need a voucher or referral, but the project is only available to those who are in real need. A spokesperson said: To be eligible to receive a food parcel you either need to be self-isolating because of age or health conditions and have no way of getting food, or you have had an unexpected change of financial circumstances.

Community group branches out to help victims of flooding in Warrington

Helping Hands Orford, Poplars and Hulme A COMMUNITY group which was set up in response to the Covid-19 pandemic has been helping victims of flooding in Warrington. Helping Hands Orford, Poplars and Hulme was founded by Carol Kilgannon and Stephen Murphy, initially delivering small bags of essentials to those who were isolating or shielding during the first national lockdown. The group has since grown into a vital lifeline for anyone in need of support, operating from the bowling green hut at Tetley Walkers Social Club in Long Lane, Orford. During the recent flooding which devastated Warrington, Helping Hands volunteers were determined to help.

Appeal for funds to help residents of flooded mental health hospital in Dallam

Lea Court residents were evacuated by boat on Thursday RESIDENTS who were evacuated from a flooded mental health treatment and recovery centre in Dallam will receive special care parcels thanks to generous donations. Lea Court Independent Hospital, which cares for adults with mental health conditions, is located in Hawleys Lane - one of the Warrington areas worst hit by Storm Christoph. Jacqui Hampson, whose son is one of Lea Court s residents, and her daughter Katie Dodd wanted to help give them a sense of normality when they are able to return. There s a lot of groups raising money for Warrington residents, but I wanted to do something specifically for Lea Court, Jacqui explained.
