ILOILO CITY – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) recently released 84 baby green sea turtles off the coast of Tibiao town, Antique province.
“More sightings of sea turtle hatch in Antique also indicate a healthy ocean ecosystem. We are thankful to the fishermen, our partners and guardians of the environment in saving our marine wildlife species,” said DENR-6 Regional Director Livino Duran.
This was as DENR-Culasi released the 84 hatchlings of the green sea turtle with a scientific name of Chelonia mydas in San Francisco Norte village of Tibiao town.
While the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) considers it as an endangered specie, the green sea turtle is thriving in Antique.

+ February 05, 2021 NEGROS Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson on Friday, February 5, 2021, said the dredging of heavily silted rivers in EB Magalona that cause flooding in the town and other neighboring local government units may start soon and will be undertaken by a private firm at no cost to the province.
Lacson, who presided over the inter-agency committee meeting Friday at the Provincial Capitol, said the provincial government is not spending any amount for the dredging operations of First Terradev Corp. in EB Magalona as soon as they comply with all the permits required.
Up for declogging and desiltation in EB Magalona are the rivers of Malogo, Imbang and Madalag.
