IPC raises alarm over growing violence in South Eastern states

The Ikwerre Peoples Congress (IPC) has raised the alarm over what it described as “the spate of violence that is currently being perpetrated in parts of Old Eastern Nigeria”.
The group in a press statement signed by its convened, Livingstone Wechie, noted that the developments have resulted in the armed and violent attacks on security formations in some of the Eastern States “and this is very unacceptable”.
In part, the statement reads thus; “We have been monitoring the Ikwerre is one of the largest ethnic nations in Africa and as critical stakeholders, we are duty bound to speak up because Nigeria cannot to be a threat to Nigerians.

The people of Ikwerre under the aegis of Ikwerre Peoples Congress, IPC on Tuesday cautioned the acclaimed leader of Biafra, Asari Dokubo for putting Ikwerre land and its people on his imaginary map.
The IPC, reacting through a statement sent to DAILY POST by the Convener, Livingstone Wechie, frowned at claims in the media that the Niger Delta region, which Ikwerre is a major component of has been mapped out as Biafran land.
The group insisted that Ikwerre land was not part of the Biafra agenda, hence Asari Dokubo should excuse them as he embarks on his journey of diatribe.

Kinsmen of the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, elders and youths from the Niger Delta have distanced themselves from the declaration of Biafra by ex-agitator Alhaji Asari Dokubo.
The kinsmen of Wike under the auspices of the Ikwerre Peoples Congress (IPC) said Asari’s proclamation was an abuse of his fundamental human rights, describing his inclusion of Ikwere and the Niger Delta as part of Biafra as vexatious.
The convener, IPC, Livingstone Wechie, said: “For the records, Ikwerre is an independent ethnic nation in Nigeria with a global spread and Ikwerre are not subservient to any other ethnic block whatsoever and under any guise. This is in respecting the status of Ikwerre as one of the largest ethnic nationalities in Nigeria on record undisputed.

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Igo Aguma, who was declared the Interim Chairman of the APC by a Rivers State High Court has resigned his membership of the party.
Aguma in a statement obtained by DAILY POST said he cannot continue to remain in APC in good conscience.
He stated that his decision to leave the party is premised on his political future.
“I have received the Supreme Court judgement which dismissed my Appeal challenging the Court of Appeal’s decision which upturned the High Court judgement that declared me as Acting Chairman of APC in Rivers State.
