STREATOR – The Livingston County Health Department will host a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Woodland School on Saturday. The Moderna vaccine will be administered from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Woodland Community Unit School District. The clinic is only open to Livingston County and residents of neighboring counties due to the limited amount of Saturday appointments. To register, visit the Livingston County Health Department. All second dose appointments will be scheduled in May at Woodland upon attending your first dose.

At Monday nightâs Brighton Board of Education meeting, the board reached an informal consensus that future meetings will involve a hybrid format, in which board members will attend the meeting in person and the public will be able to participate in the meeting virtually.
Since last fall, the hybrid procedure has been the practice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But prior to this Mondayâs meeting, it was announced that those wishing to address the board for that meeting needed to fill out a form on the districtâs website and comment in person. School Board President Roger Meyers explained at the beginning of the meeting that the district had been advised to go to that format after the state orders allowing online public meetings expired on March 31st, while capacity requirements for indoor gatherings remain in effect until April 19th. Following Gov. Whitmerâs press conference Friday in which she urged a two-week suspension of in-person high school classes, all youth sports and indoor restaurant dining, at least one local school district is taking action.
In his weekly video update (posted below), Pinckney Superintendent Rick Todd said they would pause both in-person instruction and sports at the high school next week, with most students going to online learning.
Todd pointed to the 19 confirmed COVID cases since Monday in the district, which he said was as many as they normally see over the course of a month. Todd said most of the cases occurred over spring break, and âwe re definitely feeling the impact of that and I think we re going to continue to feel the impact of that.

The Livingston County Emergency Declaration requiring masks to be worn in Livingston County will end at 11:59 p.m., March 16. According to a joint statement from the Livingston County Health Center, Chillicothe Mayor Theresa Kelly and Livingston County Presiding Commissioner Ed Douglas, Based upon The Livingston County Health Center’s calculation of positivity rate and other risk criteria we feel it is safe to end the mask declaration at this time.
The statement reads According to The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) face masks or face coverings are still strongly recommended in public places where social distancing cannot be maintained to decrease the spread of COVID 19.

Eligibility and availability are increasing for the three federally approved COVID-19 vaccines, and so are the places where Michiganians can register to get a shot.
Michigan said Friday it s expanding vaccination eligibility to all Michiganians 16 and older starting April 5. Also Friday, the Biden administration announced Friday that Detroit s Ford Field will host a federally run mass vaccination site starting March 24, with the capability to vaccinate 6,000 people a day.
Starting March 22, Monday, residents or individuals who are ages 50 and above will be eligible to get vaccines.
Michigan had vaccinated more than 1 million residents through March 10, covering 12.5% of the state population, according to state data.
