Livingston County Catholic Charities announced Friday that a $10,000 grant from the CPPS Heritage Mission Fund will assist the Special Ministries of Livingston County program with general operations and programming, Special Ministries is a newly acquired program for Livingston County Catholic Charities, officially joining the organization last November. The program provides activities for adults with cognitive and/or physical disabilities with a focus on offering growth in personal relationships, continual learning, recreational and spiritual development. WHMI 93 5 Local News : Operation Good Cheer Puts Gifts Under The Christmas Tree

December 22, 2020 By Mike Kruzman / news@whmi.com With the help of a local non-profit, 16 foster care families in Livingston County received holiday surprises. Operation Good Cheer began in 1971 and helped deliver gifts to 66 kids in foster care that year. Now, in 2020, they are helping 6,320 foster children in Michigan across 73 foster care agencies. The effort begins each spring, with local social service agencies enrolling children. Locally, that’s handled by Livingston County Catholic Charities. The kids compile a wish list of half-dozen- or- so gifts they’d like, with those lists then being delivered to donor groups in the fall, who buy at least 3 of them. In normal years, the presents are picked up, loaded and transported to Oakland County Airport, and then flown by volunteer pilots to local airports for pickups by agencies. WHMI 93 5 Local News : Outpouring Of Support for LCCC Christmas Blessing Project

December 17, 2020 An early Christmas present was delivered to local senior citizens-in need. Livingston County Catholic Charities completed its annual Christmas Blessings project, which is said to bring help, hope and love to local home-bound and low-income seniors. Food boxes are delivered that also include hygiene, paper and cleaning products. Officials say winter months are a tough time of year for vulnerable seniors who have to contend with higher utility costs that affect their ability to purchase food or life-saving medications on their limited incomes. Officials say they often hear that seniors feel forgotten during this time of year and are overjoyed when they receive their special Christmas delivery.
