The meeting follows an investigation into the assault at the Te Puni Village hall of residence. Students at the university, who wished to remain anonymous, said concerns were raised because a number of students felt unsafe after hearing of the allegations. In a letter to the university, students called for greater transparency and said the hall’s management had failed to create a safe environment. A meeting will be held on Wednesday between Te Puni residents, the students association (VUWSA), the university and police, to ensure people know how to report sexual harm.
