The following is an edited transcript of Mr. Sigerson’s opening remarks to Panel 4, “A Human Future for Youth: A Beethoven-Driven Renaissance of Classical Culture,” of the Schiller Institute’s December 12-13 Conference, The World after the U.S. Election: Creating a World Based on Reason.
Let me attempt to introduce to you the real Ludwig van Beethoven, and to indicate why Beethoven’s mastery of the Coincidence of Opposites in the domain of Classical, well-tempered polyphonic music, is so crucial for us to grapple with today. For those of you who aren’t yet familiar with this kind of music, that’s probably an advantage, since you’ll have less useless academic opinion to clear away.
is pretty balanced. even though new supply sk created, it s at a healthy clip and it s you can t build to the sky forever. these skyscrapers feature all residential units. they re going up like nobody s business. they are. and that is a unique type of living experience that is extra ordinary. some midtown towers are more investor oriented, more foreign oriented. not as many new yorkers are full-time residents. that being said, they re have a ordinary assets. so you get clients that are bidding on properties that you think if you re going to pay that, fine, but sometimes it gets silly, but the point i think that is very relevant is price has hit sort of a new normal. the new normal here is like no normal anywhere else.
yes, just a few days earlier when we were at the university in fujisawa. we felt nothing, obviously, of that magnitude, but yeah, we felt some before. yeah. bruce, i m wondering where are you from in the united states, and this group as well? i m just curious if anybody has grown up in these earthquake-prone regions of the united states, the californias, the west coast, you know, up in alaska. i mean, has anyone experienced this kind of thing before in your group? well, we have one young lady from japan right here. this is shuka. she s a member of our group, born and raised here in japan. we have several from the west coast, california. yeah, and i bet, though, even with that living experience, they probably never experienced anything like this. how about the last couple of days now, what has that been like for you? well, we ve been hold up here in the theater. they provided a room for us
