Planning for Liverpool’s future undeterred by COVID-19
Liverpool City Council has brought together business leaders and experts, developers, and Council staff to discuss its vision for commercial development in the Liverpool City Centre and beyond.
Council’s Developer Forum, its first for 2021, was adapted from an in-person to an online event, attracting leading real estate, property, planning, law, and hospitality practitioners including Deloitte, AMP Capital, Colliers, Lendlease and Frasers. The forum’s agenda focused on Council’s Planning and Development Application functions and its plans for the revitalisation of the CBD.
Mayor of Liverpool Wendy Waller said that despite the setbacks created by the COVID-19 pandemic, plans for Liverpool City’s growth and development have not been put on pause.

Liverpool City Council say their latest public project – Liverpool Civic Place – will be the greenest public building in the city’s CBD, adhering to high environmental standards.
The project, developed in collaboration with council’s joint-venture partner Built, has been designed to achieve a 5 Star Green Star Rating. Green Star is a voluntary sustainability rating system for buildings in Australia launched by the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA).
The Green Star rating system assesses the sustainability of projects at all stages of the built environment life cycle. Ratings can be achieved at the planning phase for communities, during the design, construction or fit out phase of buildings, or during the ongoing operational phase.
