Date Time New agreement to boost training and job opportunities in Gippsland Fed Uni ViceChancellor Professor Duncan Bentley, Wellington Shire Mayor Garry Stephens, TAFE Gippsland Chief Operating Officer Peter Quilligan. ‍ A commitment to provide more opportunities for education and training to fill local skill shortages was signed off today by Federation University, Wellington Shire Council and TAFE Gippsland. Federation University Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Duncan Bentley, Wellington Shire Mayor Garry Stephens and TAFE Gippsland COO Peter Quilligan signed a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) today. Under the MoU, the organisations will work together to boost skills and education, research, innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities in Gippsland, as well as the region’s culture, liveability and wellbeing.

Place Score, with support from the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources, is running the 2021 Australian Liveability Census, Australia’s largest community-led social research project led. The 2021 Liveability Census aims to capture what really matters to our communities and how our cities, towns and neighbourhoods are performing today. Parkes Shire Councillor George Pratt said, “We encourage you to take just 15 minutes to sit down and share what the most important thing to you is, in your ideal neighbourhood and include our community’s perspective in a national forum.”

Works to start on Derrinallum public toilet project

Date Time Works to start on Derrinallum public toilet project A high priority community project to replace Derrinallum’s public toilets will start Tuesday 11 May and finish in July. The new toilet block will be constructed off site and installed on the site of the existing toilet in the town avenue. Temporary public toilets will be available in the avenue while the project is underway. The new facility has two separate male and female toilets, a unisex ambulant toilet, and a unisex accessible toilet with baby change table. Mayor Ruth Gstrein said the condition of the existing toilet block and structural concerns warranted replacement.
