Zoom just announced that it s currently working on making automatic closed captioning available to all of its users by fall 2021. Currently, it can only be accessed by paid account holders and a Zoom subscription costs at least $150 a year per license. Everyone else has to provide their own captions by typing them or using a third-party service. As an effort to help free account holders in need of live transcriptions, such as those with hearing loss, Zoom is accepting automatic closed captioning requests until the feature is rolled out in the fall. If you re interested in automatic closed captioning right now, you ll have to complete a form. On the form, there s a note which says:
Zoom has announced that it s working towards making automatic closed captioning available to all of its users by the fall of 2021.
Zoom plans to roll out support for automatic closed captioning this fall to its free accounts. It’s part of efforts to make the service more accessible.
